As a technical specialist, he/she serves the company in the application of theories, concepts, principles and processes for an assigned area. This could involve major modifications to existing equipment with newly designed equipment that more efficiently serves production needs or the application of an entirely new process being utilized in the manufacture of an entirely new product line. Apply WCM tools to improve process capability and eliminate defects. Using competency in engineering principles and theories, interpret, plan, organize and execute unique engineering problems that have an important impact on major company programs.
Projects are designed to assist the plants and departments in increasing production, improving quality or reducing costs through process, product, equipment, materials and/or methods development and improvement. The position may provide technical direction to others but does not have regular supervisory responsibility. He/she will receive instructions on task specifications and design constraints, as well as technical direction during assignments.
•Demonstrated ability to design, manage, and implement projects of a technical nature which may require preparation of equipment specifications and bid documents.
•Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams. Lead and execute plant trials for process improvements and implement next step solutions as appropriate. Identify and manage resources required to successfully execute projects and communicate team progress.
•Conceive, create, develop, initiate and present innovative engineering ideas for viable new equipment designs and mechanisms for production machinery to promote more efficient and profitable processes.
•Establish methods and processes to minimize cost while maximizing productivity and quality.
•Direct the preparation of accurate project cost estimates, and predict anticipated performance from newly engineered and designed machinery, equipment and production systems to ensure compliance with objectives.
•Define the problems of a requesting department, and translate them into engineering solutions through innovative and advanced engineering approaches to respond in an efficient and timely manner to production needs and requirements.
A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required. Three (3) years of manufacturing experience in a technical fabrics/textile industry is preferred. Strong project management, quantitative and analytical skills. This position requires an in-depth and expanding knowledge of the engineering disciplines of the assigned section and a broad knowledge of related disciplines, with exposure to a wide variety of practical engineering experiences and challenges. The position also requires skills in communication, persuasion and project management and excellent interpersonal skills and multitasking abilities. This includes R&D, Product Managers, factory supervision, machine operations, etc. Must be willing to assisting Maintenance/Electricians with troubleshooting.
Must have demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to read and electrical drawings. Strong PC skills required, working knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software to create and modify electrical drawings. Machine Design experience, Microsoft office, Excel and AutoCAD or Solid works. Experience with Allen Bradley AC drives: Power Flex 525, 753, 755. Expertise with Machine Control programs: Studio 5000, Control Logix.
Some business travel required (10%) and a valid driver’s license required.
