Salary Range: 18,824 - 37,648
Responsibilities and Functions:• Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with the New York State Department of Health regulations.
• Provides clients and/or residents assistance with ADL’s and housekeeping tasks, as dictated by the Nurse and/or Patient Care Plan
Examples of this include:
o picking up laundry off the floor and putting in dirty laundry bin
o emptying resident’s trash if full into bigger trash bins in the bathroom
o assisting residents with task requests
o picking up resident rooms if resident has limitations mentally or physically
o checking resident drawers, fridges, or cupboards etc. for any soiled, rotten or non-permissible items
o DL’s marked on aide activity sheets
• Able to follow the Nursing Care Plan to complete the daily activities of the client and/or resident, as well as completion of the aide activity sheet by the end of every assigned shift
o Example: if your shift ends at 3pm, your aide activity sheet should be completed BEFORE 3pm. Even if you work a double.
• Complete all documentation in a neat and timely matter
• Observe the resident, and report changes appropriately to RN or LPN on same day that you have observed the change.
• Attend required In-service training and HHA meetings.
• Must complete 12 In services per year to stay certified.
• Must attend a minimum of 80% of daily HHA meetings at the end of every shift and report any refusals at the end of that shift.
• Performs tasks and duties assigned or requested by shift supervisor.
• Work hours as scheduled by supervisor.
• Will be cross-trained in Med Aide and Treatment Aide positions
Intellectual Requirements-
• Must be responsible, consistent and able to meet commitments and deadlines.
• Must have good judgment and know when additional assistance is required.
• Must be able to multi-task and be able to organize and structure responsibility.
• Must be able to self-start and take initiative.
Social Requirements-
• Good communication skills are necessary, if you are not a people person; this job is not a good match for you.
• Must be able to treat people who need assistance with kindness and respect, regardless of the resident’s mood or your mood.
• Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
• MUST work well with all people and maintain a professional and mature attitude.
Physical Requirements-
• Must be able to perform physical activity that require moving ones whole body, such as in climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, bending and pushing, where the activities often also require considerable use of the arms and legs, such as in the physical handling of materials.
• Employees must not have any weight restrictions, to avoid injury.
Technology Requirements-
• Knowledge and operation experience of EMAR systems
Requirements:
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age
• Graduate of New York State Department of Health approved HHA Training Program
• Must have documentation of MMR’s (Measles, Mumps and Rubella, showing an immune result.)
• Must have current (within 30 days of employment) Physical.
• Must have current PPD or chest x-ray with a negative result.
