Salary Range: 16.50 per hour

Job Summary:
• Teach classes, workshops, custom programming, and private lessons in the Ceramics department
• Assist Studio Manager with kiln loading/unloading, glaze mixing, clay reclaim, equipment maintenance, and cleaning of studio
• Assist the Director with booking and maintaining custom program workflow
• Produce slipware for one-time classes and custom orders
• Help maintain a clean, orderly studio environment

Reports to: Kate Whorton, Director of Ceramics

Minimum Qualifications:
• 2+ years experience teaching a range of ages and skill levels
• Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art, preferably in ceramics
• Extensive knowledge of at least one of our core disciplines – wheel throwing, handbuilding, ceramic jewelry, figure sculpture, sculpture
• Positive attitude, flexibility, team player
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Knowledge/Skills Required:
• Basic knowledge of the ceramics field, including best practices for firing work, reclaiming clay, mixing glazes, and best safety practices
• Ability to teach a variety of processes and develop new curriculum
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe studio environment and model best practices to students and studio users
• Awareness and interest in contemporary ceramics
• Good customer service skills
• Ability to work with interruptions, to be a self-starter

Responsibilities:
• Facilitate off-site and on-site custom programming
• Teach classes, workshops, and private lessons on an as-needed basis
• Assist in maintaining clean and organized studio spaces
• Develop new class and workshop offerings
• Teach youth classes and workshops
• Customer service help with facility tours and signing up for studio access
• Docent gallery exhibitions
• Assist with special events and exhibition installation, as needed
• Teach private lessons and private parties
• Host monthly “Try It” sessions

Hours:
• 18 hours per week
• Available to work weekend or night-time hours

Salary: $16.50 per hour
