Are you someone whose strengths include supporting challenging behavior using written support plans consistently? If so, a position as a DSP – Behavior Coach might be for you!

The DSP – Behavior Coach is a person who works alongside other direct support staff to support individuals. They are responsible for all duties that direct support staff complete. In addition, they become highly familiar with the behavior supports individuals need and help others to implement those plans consistently.
The Behavior Coach is also good at documenting both challenges and successes a person has throughout the day.

Responsibilities
Provide colleagues with support and constructive feedback and onsite education, as needed, about their implementation of various support plans.
Responsible for supporting people through challenging times, including implementing positive approaches and various support plans (behavior supports plans, behavior guidelines, and monitoring plans.)
Provide direct observations while on shift to assist behavior intervention specialists in behavior support plan development, implementation, and modification.
Document positive behavior and any challenges and/or symptoms in Therap.
Provide support and modeling to direct support staff on how to write thorough behavior progress notes.
Listen attentively and take a genuine interest in the people you’re supporting
Offer support with personal hygiene and keeping their schedules
Encourage people to deepen meaningful relationships with friends, family, and loved ones, which includes get-togethers, phone calls, and more
Assist with medical needs, including monitoring health, administering medication, and completing accurate documentation
Drive agency vehicles to provide transportation for people

Qualifications
Minimum of High School diploma or equivalency; college experience preferred
Valid driver’s license that complies with Heritage Christian Services’ motor vehicle record standards, and reliable transportation to and from work
The ability to work a variety of shifts is required
Experience working with people who have an intellectual or developmental disability is preferred
Physical ability to effectively implement proper lifting and transfer techniques.
Assist people with any needed intimate personal care
Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills and knowledge
