PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT: Permanent appointment requires successful completion and placement through Civil Service examination process.
Duties involve testing accuracy of weighing and measuring equipment, performed in accordance with routine prescribed by state law. Related work as required.
- Satisfactory completion of 24 credit hours in physical*, engineering, or electronics sciences**, mechanical technology and/or mathematics*** from accredited or NYS-registered college/university or institution accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees; OR
- Two years full-time experience where primary functions/responsibilities include any of the following: Enforcing weights and measures laws/regulations; Inspecting and testing devices/packaged commodities; Inspecting, testing and repairing commercial/industrial weighing/measuring devices per manufacturer’s specifications and tolerances; Inspecting/testing quality and quantity of goods; data reduction; assessing compliance of results; Conducting analyses and assessing result compliance; OR
- Equivalent combination of training/experience defined by limits above.
*Physical sciences include chemistry, earth science and physics.
**Electronics sciences do not include course work in electricity.
***Mathematics includes coursework in accounting, economics, etc.
Verifiable part-time experience may be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
Minimum qualifications are mandated under Section 179(17) of NYS Agriculture and Markets Law.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of valid NYS driver’s license.
