The City of Batavia, New York seeks a creative, team oriented professional to serve as Temporary (to permanent) Human Resources Director.
Salary: $85,144 - $103,270 DOQ
This position is being filled to work with the current Human Resources Director in preparation of their upcoming retirement in early 2023. The Director is responsible for; the administration and oversight of all employee benefit programs, developing and administering the City’s Personnel Policy Manual, negotiating and administering the City’s four labor union contracts, overseeing and investigating employee complaints, grievances, or employee discipline, administration of the City’s self-funded workers’ compensation program, administration of the hiring process, compilation of the personnel costs for the City’s annual budget, workers’ compensation budget and the City’s self-funded health insurance budget, and the administration of the City’s performance evaluation program.
This will be a Provisional appointment pending successful scoring on the Civil Service examination.
Civil Service Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an appropriate equivalency diploma recognized by the NYS Department of Education, and either: A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Public or Business Administration, Organization Development, Labor Relations or related field AND four years of full-time paid experience performing in a Human Resources Director, Manager or comparable role, of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR: B. Graduation from a regionally accredited New York State registered two-year college with an Associate’s degree in Human Resources Management, Public or Business Administration, Organizational Development, Labor Relations or related field and six years full-time paid experience performing in a Human Resources Director, Manager or comparable role, of which at least three years must have been in a supervisor capacity; OR: C. Eight years of full-time paid experience performing in a Human Resources Director, Manager or comparable role, of which at least four years must have been in a supervisory capacity.
