Essex Hotel Management is currently seeking a DRIVEN Senior Staff Accountant to join the home office located in Rochester, NY.

What will I be doing?

As the Senior Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for all accounting functions for the Hotels, Student Housing and Office Complexes, as well as supporting the functions of the Assistant Controller and Controller. Such responsibilities include, but are not limited to: audit functions, profit and loss statement preparations, account and cash reconciliation, billing and credit management, revenue review/reporting, ledger maintenance and general administrative duties. Special emphasis is placed on attention to details, timely and accurate processing and reporting of financial data, accommodating property/corporate requests, flexibility with work assignments, efficiency, quality, and a social demeanor that contributes to a hospitable environment.

-Cash Management includes bank reconciliations weekly and monthly, and the production of a cash report for payables.
-Account Reconciliations complete balancing, tracking and support worksheets for multiple general ledger accounts.
-Month-End/Year-End compilation timely produce standard monthly/yearly reports for property, corporate and ownership review.
-Administrative & Clerical duties including filing, organizing, scanning and uploading paper documentation, along with downloading and formatting digital reports.

What does our ideal candidate look like?

-Enjoys working independently and part of the team
-Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Sharepoint, Teams)
-3-5 years practical work experience
-Strong knowledge of GAAP; USALI a plus
-Prior experience with multi-LLC and/or ownership groups
-Associates/Bachelors degree
