The JCC is looking for Teacher Assistants who can contribute and enhance learning for our students in the School Day at the J program. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working with children, understands how they learn and is dedicated to creating a nurturing learning atmosphere. -Daytime School Hours
-Small group classroom settings
-FT and PT hours available
-Competitive Pay ($12.35 - $16.00 per hour)
-Flexible scheduling

Start date: September 9th

-Orientation and Training TBD during the week of August 24th – August 28th.-
-Safe Environment - Strictly following NYS, Department of Health and CDC Guidelines

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
-Support students in the community, (primarily 7th – 12th graders) by providing a safe, structured, and nurturing academic environment
-Assist students with organization and completion of homework and assignments
-Help maintain the classroom and work environment by following state mandated cleaning protocols
-Proactively role model habits that contribute to both academic and social success
-Build and maintain lasting and meaningful relationships with students and families
-Have the opportunity to celebrate successes and milestones along with areas of opportunity with program supervisors, teachers and parents.
-Regularly attend and contribute to program meetings

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
-Experience working with a diverse group of students with a variety of learning styles and individual social/emotional needs
-Basic computer skills
-Must have the ability to contribute to a positive learning environment
-Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team when supervision and instruction is not always immediately available
-Proactively establish and maintain professional working relationships with supervisors and employees.
-Handle confidential information with tact and discretion.

PREFERRED/SKILLS:
-AAS or BA degree in related field
-Experience working in a secondary education setting
-Paraprofessional experience
